THE PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATION IN IMAGE CONSULTANCY

The Federation of Image Consultants in partnership with the City and Guilds of London Institute, awards this professional qualification in Image Consultancy offering third party accreditation to committed image consultants. The qualification measures the knowledge, skills and performance of the profession and enables candidates to demonstrate their capability and to evaluate their service against industry standards.

The purpose of accreditation is to verify professional status and provide international credibility which strengthens influence and endorses Professional standing. The post-nominals MFIC can be used once the Joint Award has been completed successfully.

The Award conforms to the Qualification and Curriculum Authority requirements and as a national qualification is recognisable both within the industry and, more importantly, by clients.

Assessments, in a simulated consultation, are a competence-based demonstration of
  • Practical skill
  • Underpinning knowledge
  • Ability to impart the knowledge to clients
Pre-requisites for candidates taking the Joint Award are:
  • Affiliate or Associate membership of TFIC
  • Foundation training in image consultancy
  • Submission and assessment of a Portfolio of Evidence prior to taking the first module
  • Experience of working in the image industry
The Award comprises 4 units of which competence must be demonstrated in 3 units.
  • Unit 001 - Colour Analysis (compulsory)
  • Unit 002 - Style (face and figure analysis) for women
  • Unit 003 - Style (face and figure analysis) for men
  • Unit 004 - Instruction in Basic Cosmetic Application
